Years ago, when we were still young and naive about our government and country, Carl Sagan a popular astronomer and professor, had a catch phrase about the universe. He'd talk about the “billions and billions of stars in the sky.”I'd like to introduce a new one “billions and billions of theft.” The only people protesting and screaming against the DOGE investigation into waste are the government representatives who are on the take. The rest of us want a refund or at minimum the crooks in jail.
I've seen some of this up close and personal. Unlike many people, I've had quite an eclectic career history. When I was married to my first husband in the 1980s, we had a small video business. I learned about quarterly taxes for small businesses. When you own a small business you're married to it. Even when you're not there, you're thinking about it day and night because that's how you feed your family. In the early 80s we were paying between $2,000to $4,000 every quarter. We weren't BLOCKBUSTER.
After my divorce I started teaching so I could be on the same schedule as my kids. In the early 90s I learned about the education complex. We weren’t allowed to discipline the students, had to inflate grades,, and follow a schedule of learning objectives before most of the class understood the original lesson. I found it impossible to teach that way. Schools get funding according to attendance. That's the only reason school administrators want kids in school. I started tutoring instead.
After I got my masters degree I became the unit head in what was labeled an“autistic unit.” in a residential treatment center for children. Most came from the foster care industry.. Not one of those poor kids was autistic. They all had different disabilities and each were given so many drugs that it was horrifying. There was one psychiatrist for 100 kids. I was fired and walked out like a perp because I had been in communication with a child advocacy lawyer and reported a nurse who ran down the main walkway chasing a small child who didn't want a hepititis shot.
When I moved to South Florida I decided to try working for the Department of Children and Families. I was blessed to work in the adoption department. There was a file cabinet of kids stuck in foster care for years. To this day I wonder what their former case workers did because I had almost all adopted, except one young lady. She was one of the “ problems.” One day I had to get her a new home. Because she was a “problem” it was difficult. She stayed with me until I found her a home, which was late that night. I got a commendation for that the next day. I remember coming home ranting about that the award was stupid. I just did my job!
I learned that the judges ALWAYS sided with DCF and once you get caught up in the government web you never get out. Our building was blocks from the courthouse. That was great because we had to check in with the court once a month for each child. Then our department was moved more than 20 miles away and if you know Miami that's a hell of a commute. The state pays for a worker’s drive from the office to the courthouse. I guess they didn't take that into consideration. When we moved, the department head told us we didn't have to come in to work. I left that job too.
I was one of the first TEA party citizens who protested in DC in 2009. I knew more trouble was coming when the media didn't cover a million citizens protesting government waste. I had two signs depending on whether I was protesting CAIR, the unindicted co conspirator in the HOLYLAND TERRORIST trial or our government. One was “ Never Again is Now” and the other was “End the Corruption.” I convinced my husband to come with me to DC by telling him it was historical. I believe I was right. Another mask has been ripped off and hidden by unelected bureaucrats and paid for by the taxpayer. The United States is a country blessed by God. It's time we started acting that way.
Amen!
